What other people can see

A collection has a link. Anybody holding that link can open the page and read the collection's name and description, every contribution to it, the name given with each one, the amount, the date and any message left with it. That is deliberate: a group chasing a treasurer for a total is the thing this exists to stop.

A link is not a password. Anyone it is forwarded to can read the collection. Treat it the way you would treat the group it was shared into.

Choosing Give anonymously hides your name from that list and from the downloads. Your message is still shown, and the organiser can still see the payment in their own records, so it hides you from the room rather than from the person running the collection.

Collection pages are kept out of search engines. We ask crawlers not to index them and mark every page but the front one accordingly.

What we hold

• Your mobile number. It is how an account is identified, how a payment prompt reaches you, and how a contribution is recorded against a person rather than a row. Giving does not need an account, but it does need a number.
• A name, if you give one. Optional on a contribution. Where it is left out, the number stands in.
• An email address, if you have an account. Used for statements you ask us to send. Not required.
• The contributions and payouts themselves. Amount, currency, how it was paid, when it was confirmed, the message, and a receipt reference.
• A payment account's keys, for an organiser who connects one. Stored encrypted and never shown back on screen.

We never see or store a PIN or a card number. Those are entered with the payment provider, not with us.

Who else gets it

Payonify, who move the money. To take a payment they are sent the amount, the mobile number it should be requested from, and what the collection is called. To send a payout they are sent the recipient's number and amount. Their own terms and privacy policy govern what they do with it.

An email provider, when you ask for a statement or a notice, which carries the figures and the list you asked for.

Nobody else. We do not sell anything to anybody, and there are no advertising or analytics trackers on these pages.

How long it is kept

The book is append-only. Once money has moved, the entry recording it cannot be edited or removed, and a correction is made by posting an entry that reverses it. A collection that has taken money cannot be deleted, only closed. This is not an oversight: a record of other people's money that can be quietly rewritten is not a record.

A collection that never took a payment can be deleted outright.

Asking us about your own

Write to contactus@homwe.co.zw and we will tell you what is held against your number, correct anything that is wrong about you, and remove what is not part of the financial record.

Where a request would mean erasing part of that record, we will say so and explain what can be done instead, rather than doing it quietly or refusing without a reason.

Changes

If this page changes in a way that affects what is held or who sees it, the date at the top changes with it.
